Dr. Ethan Ashley is originally from Dallas, Texas but completed his B.S. in Biology with a minor in Public Health from the University of Georgia Honors College in 2013 and then returned to Texas to complete his M.D. from Texas A\&M University College of Medicine in 2017. He then moved to Charleston for his residency training in Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also served as chief resident. After finishing his residency in 2021, he joined the faculty at MUSC as an Assistant Professor. He worked in the Institute of Psychiatry Adult Inpatient unit for two years, where he treated a variety of mood/anxiety disorders and psychotic disorders while also supervising residents and medical students.

He then joined the Brain Stimulation Laboratory Division in the Department of Psychiatry in 2023. As a member of the Brain Stimulation team, he provides different brain stimulation treatments for various psychiatric disorders, such as treatment-resistant depression. These treatments include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). He continues to also treat patients on the adult inpatient unit at the IOP while supervising residents and 3^rd^ and 4th-year medical students.
